The History of Salvia

The history of salvia dates back to the early 20th century where it was first discovered. The first printing of information about salvia was in 1939. This was by Jean Basset Johnson who was researching about Mazatec shamanism and it led to his discovery of the salvia plant. Afterwards, he recorded all of the use that the salvia plant had based on testimonials that people gave him. Almost half a century later the drug actually became somewhat popular.

1990’s – The Magical Drug
In the 1990’, Daniel Siebert and his team discovered that salvia possesses psychoactive characteristics and is a very strong drug which has many uses. Since the 1990’s, it has slowly grown in popularity and has started to be used as a drug to get high on by many people around the world.

The whole history of salvia is not fully figured out because there was not proper documentation at the time that it was originally discovered. The origins of salvia are not for sure correct but most information is pointing towards Mexico. However, it’s guaranteed that salvia is a drug which was used by Indian tribes for spiritual events and rituals. Now, salvia is used by a lot of people for various reasons and even though the history of salvia is not clear, things are starting to be easier to understand about salvia as more information is being produced.
