Physical Damage from Salvia Use
When people explore new drugs they will usually get worried of the drug causing physical damage or leading to an addiction. With salvia there are a lot of people worried that there may be some after effects which could lead to health issues but there is not really that much to worry about compared to what most drugs can cause.
Physical Damage
There have been no major reports of salvia causing physical damage or at least when it is chewed. If you are smoking salvia then there may be some damage done to your lungs because it would be similar to smoking tobacco smoking tobacco could lead to cancer, stroke, emphysema, bronchitis, and various cardiovascular diseases. Those negative effects of smoking tobacco are not from the nicotine but from various combustion products in the tobacco like carbon monoxide. There is also carbon monoxide in salvia so there could be a relation with the side effects that smoking tobacco and salvia could lead to.
There have been no studies which proved that salvia can cause health effects or could lead to birth defects of your son or daughter but you should just assume that there is possibly issues there and not take the risk. If you are pregnant you should stay away from drugs completely. You should automatically assume that smoking salvia can lead to health issues with your lungs because of the smoke you are inhaling.
