Salvinorin A and the Brain
Salvia itself can be a little potent but the main ingredient which makes the drug so strong is the salvinorin A. it only takes a small amount of this ingredient for the salvia to be potent enough to cause hallucinations and a very intense high. However, not everything is figured out about this ingredient yet and there are a lot of people that are worried that it could cause damage to the brain.
Salvinorin A
Being one of the strongest ingredients in salvia it is important that you know what is in it. Salvinorin A contains combustible products like carbon monoxide. PCP and ketamine are two antisocial drugs which also have carbon monoxide in it and it can lead to brain damage. With that said, it would make sense that there may be a reason to worry since there is also carbon monoxide in salvia. There are some bits of evidence which unclearly display the possibility of salvia causing damage to your brain but there is no solid proof linking salvia usage to brain damage.
This is not something which you should worry about that much but you should follow up some research on it in the future in case some new studies are completed. At this point, it is unknown if using a very large amount of salvia can lead to brain damage or not. With most stuff you should just use the rule of thumb that too much of anything can be a bad thing. It is highly unlikely that using a normal dosage of salvia will lead to any issues with your brain.
